Day 3 – Lucern - Mount Rigi
After
checked out from Bellpark Hostel, I took bus to Lucern train station.
Stored my luggage in the locker for another 6,00 CHF. Once again, I
checked with the Information Counter where is the boat pier located. It
was just across the street.
The cruise would be going from Lucern – Weggis – Vitznau. From Vitzau, I had to take gondola or train to go up to Rigi Kulm.
The cruise had 2 sections – First class and Second Class. You might need to do table reservation in order to get a table in the restaurant inside the cruise. I never had one. However, if there was any table available you might sit anywhere and order for the breakfast. It was not included in the pass; you had to pay it separately for the meals. I already had my breakfast, so I didn’t bother to have anything else.
It
was 8.12 am in the morning. It was very cold and foggy. Since there was
no table to sit inside, I went out to sit in the open-air area. But, it
was freezing. After a while, I went back inside and sit near the
heater. When the weather was less foggy, then I could the beautiful view
of the lake. The cruise stopped at few piers before reach Vitznau.
Once of it was Weggis, another way to go to Rigi Kulm.
We
continued cruising until we reached at Vitznau Pier. From here, I took a
train or gondola to go to Rigi Kulm. The train was in a classic design;
it stopped at few stations before reach to the top.
At Vitznau
During
summer, visitors normally came for hiking to enjoy the beautiful
weather. When the train stopped at Rigi Katbald, I went down and thought
of hiking to Rigi Kulm. With high altitude and low temperature, I only
managed to hike about 10 minutes. I gave up and turned back to the stop
and waited for the next train. The train came after 30 minutes.
Tired of hiking
Mount
Rigi known as the Queen of the Mountains. Rigi is like a peninsula,
located on the edge of the Prealps between Lake Lucerne, Lake Zug and
Lake Lauerz.
Its
peninsula location enables visitors not only to cast their eyes down
the sweeping mountain slopes, but also to enjoy Rigi's impressive and
renowned panoramic views. The characteristic shape of this free-standing
mountain is visible from all parts of the valley.
Mt. Rigi is situated in the cantons of Schwyz and Lucerne and encompasses a total of nine different municipalities. The three Lucerne municipalities of Weggis, Vitznau and Greppen, and the Schwyz municipalities of Küssnacht, Arth/Goldau, Lauerz, Schwyz, Ingebohl/Brunnen and Gersau have a total population of over 50,000 people, who all feel connected to Mt. Rigi and appreciate what this stunning mountain has to offer.

The
views were a bit different compared to Mount Titlis. I believed it
would be more beautiful during Spring or Summer. There were few
activities could be done in Rigi such as hiking, skiing and
snowboarding. The crowd was less and more relaxing compared to Titlis.

Rigi Kulm was not very far from Rigi Staffel. I didn’t know how come I didn’t manage to hike to the top. Less stamina, maybe.

As
usual, I went there only for taking pictures. I was trying to do selfie
(which I really hate) and it didn’t work out. A Korean lady saw me
doing that and offered to take photo for me. It was so nice and
embarrassing as well.
After
spent time for half an hour, I started to go downhill using a different
way. I took the same train, but this time I stopped at Rigi Katbald as
the interchange station to take the cable car.
