The Unforgotten Trip : Krabi - Hatyai - KL

The Unforgotten Trip : Krabi - Hatyai - KL
January 27, 2013|Adiek Sarah

It was a journey from Krabi to Hatyai. We woke up early in the morning to check out and leave the beach. Before that, we took breakfast in our room. Only instant foods because we knew that a lot of shops still did not open at this hour, which was about 7.00 am.

My breakfast - instant chicken porridge with Nescafe 3 in 1

After took some pictures, we started to leave the place by taking Songthew to Krabi Bus Terminal. The fare was 60 Baht. I know I was suppose to change my money last night but I didn't do that, and it gave me a huge trouble when there was no money changer at the bus terminal. They still had ATM machine and I had no choice to withdraw it with additional charges, otherwise I will have no money to buy the bus ticket. Lesson learned! The bus fare to Hatyai was 240 Baht per person.

It was a very long journey. We thought it was an express bus which they will go to Hatyai directly. But they dropped and picked up passengers along the journey and took about 5 hours to reach Hatyai bus station.

Not to waste our time, we started to look for transportation to go to Khlong Hae Floating Market. As usual, taxi drivers will come to us and offer to ride with them. This time not only the taxi drivers came to us, but also the motorcycle riders. And guess what, both of us were on the same motorcycle with the rider. Such an experience! He charged us 100 Baht each person.

Less than half an hour, we managed to reach Floating Market as we wished. It was actually a night market at Khlong Hae and we had to walk and cross the river to reach the floating market. Normally they opened around 3.00 pm but some of them already started selling as early as 2.00 pm. They were selling foods on boats along the river.

We had only 30 minutes to try all the interesting foods as we were rushing to go to the train station. Here are some foods that we had bought. Other than that, we'd also bought  fried crab (1 1/2 crab for 20 Baht).

Mushroom Soup - 30 Baht

Fish ball and seafood - 85 Baht

Otak-Otak - 20 Baht

Drink in bamboo (20 Baht), Ice cream in clay bowl (25 Baht)

As our train will depart at 4.00 pm, we had to rush to the train station. There was a Tuk Tuk waiting at the market and the fare to the train station was 100 Baht per person. It was not really far and we reached the station by 3.00 pm.

We were actually looking for a seafood restaurant suggested by Zack's friend nearby the station, but the people around there said it is quite far to walk. So we decided to just stay at the station. We spent some time to perform prayer and took a break before before we jumped into the train.

Train fare, which we've bought 2 months earlier, was RM60 per person for night coach. However, it stopped at Padang Besar to change the train head and we went through the immigration and customs process.  I couldn't find my departure card, but thank God the immigration officer just gave another form for me to fill in.

We were safely arrived at KL Sentral around 5.30 am on the next morning. It was more than 12 hours journey. Finally, we wrap up this trip by having early breakfast at Meals Station (24 hours) at KL Sentral.

It was a very short trip. Some people said we were crazy and waste so much time spending on the road. But we felt that this was a fruitful trip. I can't wait for the next trip. Till then..
