Bratislava or Bratislover?

Bratislava or Bratislover?
March 15, 2015 | Adiek Sarah

The second day in Vienna. I intended to go to neighboring countries, Slovakia to visit another tourist destination, Bratislava. The distance was only an hour by train from Vienna. The price of a return ticket was 16 euros including all public transport in Bratislava.

Bratislava Main Train Station

Slovakia is a country that is relatively poor compared with Austria. On arrival at the railway station Bratislava, I could feel the difference in the situation compared to Vienna by a used car, tram conditions slightly sickly, and many unsightly graffiti wall in Bratislava.

I took the bus to Bratislava Old Town, where there the old buildings were still preserved in good condition. It was a tourist attraction because there are buildings with old architecture and the area was neat. Restaurants and souvenir shops were also abundant here.

Bratislava's Old Town area was large. About an hour I was finished around the entire area.

Michael's Gate, which had a circular copper dome was one of the symbols of Bratislava. It was built in the mid 14th century and renovated around 1753 and 1758. The seven-storey tower as high as 51 meters provided a very nice view for Bratislava visitors.

Another interesting building was St. Elizabeth Church or recognized Blue Church could be seen clearly in the Old Town of Bratislava. I just passed by this building, but were not able to get into it.

From a distance I could see the Bratislava Castle, which is still strong and majestic on a hill top. I walked down the hilly road until I arrived at the palace.

Bratislava Castle was located on the Mount of Danube. It was built in the 16th century, King Ferdinand ordered the reconstruction of the palace in Renaissance style, while in the 17th century, it was rebuilt in Baroque style. The palace is now functioning as the Slovak Parliament and the National Museum of Slovakia.

From the castle I could see the whole view of Bratislava. Differences in the old town and the new town could be seen clearly and separated by New Bridge - Novy Most. It was built between 1967 and 1972 across the River Danube.

Finished enjoying the view around Bratislava, I decided to return to Vienna, although it was still quite early. I raced to make sure I arrived at the train station Bratislava right on schedule.
