Madakaripura Waterfall

Once we had done with the four places at Mount Bromo, we came down to hotel and had our breakfast again. Actually we didn't eat our breakfast when we were too full with Pisang Goreng, Kentang Goreng and Bakso. We left to Madakaripura Waterfall around 11 am.

Driving down to the waterfall was a bit confusing. It was dark when went up and couldn't recall the exact way to go down. I had to use my sixth sense to identify the correct route and junction before we could get lost to nowhere. It was located 5 km away from the main junction.

The entrance fee had to be paid around 1 km away from the parking area. Again, we had to remain silence while Mbk Tika was negotiating the price. The best thing about the view to Madakaripura Waterfall is we could see a lot of Durian trees and honeybees. I felt like wanted to buy at least a bottle of honey, but not sure how to bring back since I didn't take luggage for my return flight.

Based on the history (or myth), Madakaripura Waterfall was a place where one of the Kings of Majapahit, Pepatih Gadjah Mada was buried. There was a statue of him at the parking area, but I forgot to snap the picture.

It took about 20 minutes tracking to reach the waterfall. Of course you couldn't go there on your own, but had to take a guide to ensure you reach the destination safely. With IDR50,000, this guide was not only functioned as a guide, but also as our photographer. He knew where to get the nice background of the pictures which had make our journey easier.

The track was not too difficult, yet not too easy. You will surely get wet when you do river crossing and walk under the waterfalls.  So, it is either you bring your raincoat and just enjoy the moment. Make sure you bring extra clothes for change. It was slippery, so it is advisable to wear proper shoes or sandals.

Walking under the waterfalls makes me feel like walking in the rain. I felt fresh, relaxing, and released from problems and stress. There were some areas that we need climb the rocks and had to be extra careful.

Finally, we reached to main waterfall. Subhanallah. I was so speechless. It was such a beautiful place. I guess you could judge yourself by looking at these pictures.

 Durian

We started to leave the waterfall at 2.30 pm.We were already  wet and cold. After changing to dry clothes and perform prayer, wehad  some hot instant noodle as our lunch at the parking area. There were also toilets and musolla provided with some amount of fees. Since we had seen a lot of durians along the way, we felt that it is a must to go and try them. The durian at the parking area costs about IDR60,000 each and we felt that it was quite expensive. So, we droped by at a small shop when we saw their pickup truck is full with durian. We hope to negotiate for some cheaper prices.

After picking and choose for the best durian (I think so), I could say that the taste of durian is so great. As a durian lover, this durian taste a bit different from Malaysia and it was damn nice. Nom nom nom...

Two durian is enough and it costs us IDR70,000. The more we eat, the more we have to pay. And it is time to go back to Surabaya city.
