The Expected Journey from KL to Phuket and straight to Krabi
The Expected Journey from KL to Phuket and straight to Krabi
January 27, 2013|Adiek Sarah
Let's start to do a backpacking trip today. Well, this trip started from 26th Jan 2013 until 28 Jan 2013. Again, with my partner in crime, Zack, we decided to start this trip by taking plane from LCCT, KL to Phuket. The airfare was not really cheap and it costs us RM247 each. But since we've only bought one way ticket, so the price didn't really matter to us.
The Route : Phuket-Krabi-Hatyai
AirAsia Flight AK1928 departed at 6.55 am from LCCT and reached Phuket International Airport at 7.20 am local time (Thailand is 1 hour behind Malaysia).
Soon after we reach the airport, we took minibus (it is actually a van) to Patong Beach. The fare was 180 Baht per person but we had to wait at least 5 passenger before they can start the journey. It took about 1 hour to reach Patong Beach.
Minibus ticket and we grab a map to become our best friend for this trip
Well,
how to describe Patong? Hmm...for me, Patong Beach is very nice but not
the Patong town. You can see how nice the view is. We were just walking
through the beach and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It was very hot
there. Nothing much we could do except taking pictures.

Enough
taking pictures and we were already starving, we started to walk to
find the halal restaurants. Phuket is not a Muslim area, so it is quite
hard to find halal food. Please do not easily believe the food is halal
even though they put the halal signs. This has been advised by a Muslim
guy, an Iranian I think and he suggested us to find Shalimar Restaurant.
It is the only halal restaurant that is halal and the only one opened
at this hour (it was 9.30 am).
We walked through the streets to find the restaurant. It was nearby but because it had no direct access, then we had to take a long turn before we could find the place.
I'm
not sure we were taking breakfast or lunch, but I'm pretty sure the
meals will be enough for us to reach the next destination, Krabi. We
were too tired to walk to the beach to go to the bus stop, but luckily
we saw a blue bus which was going to take us there. The fare was only 10
Baht. At Patong beach, we had to take another bus to go to Phuket town.
It was a wooden bus and you have to mention to the conductor that you
are going to Krabi and they will drop you at local bus station at the
town. The fare was 40 Baht.
Bus to Phuket Town
From
Phuket local bus station, we took another bus to Phuket Bus Terminal 2.
The fare was only 10 Baht. This is the bus station for express busses
to Bangkok, Krabi, Hatyai etc. We straight away looking for the ticket
counter to buy Krabi tickets and we were lucky there were only 2 seats
left. It was actually a minibus or a van as I mentioned earlier. The
fare was 140 Baht.
Phuket to Krabi took about 4 1/2 hours and we reached Krabi Bus Terminal about 4.00 pm. There were a lot of taxi drivers trying to attract us to ride with them, but the Australian couple which came together with us from Patong Beach saved us. They told us how to go to Krabi Town and Ao Nang and how much the fare supposed to be. The taxi drivers were really mad at them and they could not charge us expensively.
We
took Songthew to Krabi Town and it costs us 60 Baht each before we
exchanged to another Songthew to go to Ao Nang and the fare is 50 Baht.
Well, it was suppose to go to Ao Nang directly but I don't know why we
had to exchange the Songthew. It didn't really matter anyway.
Krabi Town - they were having a festival at this time
Mosque in Krabi
Along
the journey to Ao Nang, we saw mosques in some areas as we know that
Krabi has a lot of Muslims, which is much better that Phuket. It took
about 20 minutes to reach Ao Nang. This wasn't our first time in Ao
Nang. Like myself, I've been here in 2010 during my Star Cruise trip and
I still love this place.
As
we were backpackers and also gamblers (haha), we actually didn't book
any rooms in Ao Nang. We walked into each and every guest rooms but most
of them werefull and it was getting dark out there. We walked into the
street and finally we managed to find a hotel which had only 1 room
left. The rate was 1500 Baht per room (which is over than our budget),
but we think it was fine and we were just grab it. The decoration was
quite nice even the hotel was a bit old.
Guitar Residence
Night Life in Krabi! Nothing much I could say but it was awesome. Here are some of our activities;
1)
We tried the banana pancake (highly recommended!). The price is depends
on what flavour you choose. I chose Banana+choco for 40 Baht.

2)
Seafood dinner (tomyam seafood, of course). I took flat noodles cream
tomyam seafood (with coconut milk) and Vanilla tea. This tea smells so
good. Zack took the clear tomyam and lemon tea (if I'm not mistaken).

3)
Zack really insisted to do her hair braiding and we managed to find the
cheapest place which cost her only 300 Baht for half hair even her hair
is quite long.
4)
Meantime, I was pampering myself for foot massage and it costs me 250
Baht. They massaged my shoulder and neck as well. I tell you what, it
was so painful, haha. Owh, no picture for this as my aurat was not fully
covered.
We'd
walking through the road and there are a lot of stalls selling halal
food. There a lot of Malaysians at this area, so it is a very safe place
to visit. We ended our first day walking back to the hotel and had
another session of banana pancake. Yummy!
