Check Out and Day Time Macau Sight Seeing

We checked out as early as 8.00 am to continue our journey. We went back to Senado Square and walked along the street and enjoy the beautiful architecture of Portuguese heritage.

Ruins of St Paul

A must go place, Ruins of St. Paul is the site of St. Paul Church. I did not really read about the history before I came to this place. To get here is just walking distance from Senado Square. But with more than 7 kg burden on our shoulder (carrying our backpack) I felt that it was very far to reach.

We could see a Startbucks outlet at that area. We went in to buy a drink and purposely to get internet connection. And guess what? No wifi in that Starbucks. I repeat, no wifi in Starbucks. Huh!

Next to it is the Macau Museum. We can see it as a fortress from the outside. We didn't go in there. Out of energy, we had a break and there were few stalls selling souvenirs. As usual, fridge magnet is a compulsory thing to buy when I travel.

Journey continued. To the Maritime Terminal, my friends. The cheapest transportation to the terminal is to take bus. The fare is only $3.20. But the question is, how to get the bus?

I wonder why Sunday is a busy day in Macau. We walked all the way to find the correct bus stop. Unfortunately, most of the buses were full and some of them didn't even open the door for us. Taxis also couldn't stop along the road. It's a busy day, said the street policewomen.

We  finally get into the right bus and heading to the terminal. Luckily, the bus was not too full and we need some air to breathe.

Ferry to Hong Kong

You need a passport and a ferry ticket go on board. TurboJet one way ticket to Hong Kong costs $161. Just like departing by plane, passengers have to be there 30 minutes before the departure.

It was a big ferry, air conditioned and very comfortable. Nice to sleep as well. And yes, we slept well during the one hour journey.

Hong Kong City

The first thing that we have to buy once we reach HK is the Octopus Card. Price is HKD150 with $100 credit and $50 as the deposit for the card. It will be refunded together with the balance (if any) when we are leaving HK. An MTR map as guide, we straight away search for the hostel.

USA Hostel located at Mirador Mansion, Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Shui. The building is actually an apartment, it wasn't really hard to find. I did all the booking myself. I was a bit upset when we had to pay additional 10% for the tax made the total cost for the room was $1554, which was not stated in the booking confirmation.

The registration counter located at level 13 but the room located at level 10. We need to take stairs to go down because the elevator only goes to even number of level.

The room is not bad. Clean and neat, with attached bathroom, air conditioned and a TV (but not functioning). Done with the registration, took some rest and performed prayer, we went out again. Next destination, The Peak!

Peak Tram, Sky Terrace and Madam Tussauds

Combo ticket; 2 way Peak Tram + Madam Tussauds + Sky Terrace 428 = $260. It was Sunday and crowded. We saw a lot of Malaysians, but they are not friendly.

It was getting dark and we had to go up to the Sky Terrace before we lost the beautiful scenery.

Be up here with your loved ones, and say I Love You at the Peak!

Madam Tussauds or a Wax Museum of famous celebrities. Nothing much to describe about this place. They are all waxes. Take pictures, take pictures, and take pictures.

It was totally dark when we went down. But still we manage to enjoy the night view of Hong Kong from the peak.

We went back to Nathan Road to have dinner at one of Halal restaurants there, Al Maidah. I guess it was owned by Pakistani. Don't be surprise to see the prices. A plate of chicken beriyani was $78 and it was quite a big portion. So, we bought only one plate shared among four of us. Budget saved!

Ladies Market

We continued to the next destination, Ladies Market. It is located nearby Mong Kok MTR Station. This market is totally out of my expectation. I was hoping that this market purely selling things for ladies. But it is almost the same as Uptown or Dowtown in KL. The worst part is the price are unacceptable and really high. Not worth of buying anything actually. However, I did buy a cardigan worth of $120, only because I lost my jacket before my departure to Macau.

Our legs were too tired. Time to go back to the hostel. Next destination will be continued on the next day. Owh, the hostel was provided with wifi but they turned off at 1 am on that night. What a service!

~End of Day 2~
