Koh Tao - A Place for Foreigners

Image
As per my previous entry, I have decided to go Koh Tao directly instead of staying at Koh Samui. Ok, let's talk about the journey to Koh Tao from Suratthani train station.  Enough waiting, I left the train station and start searching for buses to the pier. I have done online booking for return tickets to Koh Tao via Lomprayah ferry. It was actually a joint tickets of bus and ferry. There was a local bus station located just next to the train station. I asked the driver if they are going to Lomprayah office, but they showed me the way to the travel office which is only 200 m away. The departure time showed in the ticket was 9.00 am. I was a bit confused whether it was the bus departure time or ferry departure time. They asked me to wait for the bus until 8.30 am. It was a only a table in a restaurant functions as the counter. I didn't order anything for breakfast and quite starving actually. I was sitting alone while waiting for the bus. There was a local man wit...

The preparation for Koh Tao, Thailand

Image
It has been awhile since my last post. No new entries when there was no new trip. How sad it was. Now, I'm getting excited about my new trip. Some people might think I'm crazy but do I really care? When I came back to office since my previous EL, I was an email stated that the company is off for holiday from 21st Dec 2013 - 1 Jan 2014. Most of the employees are flying back to India. I never thought to have any plan before this when there is no more leave has left for me. No budget as well. Suddenly, this idea came across my mind. Initially I wanted to take train from KL to Bangkok. However, the political issues in Bangkok seems to be worsen and I have to change the route based on the time and budget. So here is the route: KL-Penang-Butterworth-Surathani-Koh Samui-Surathani-Butterworth-Penang-KL. It was a good plan, I believe. The only problem is I cannot buy the train ticket, but have to walk in to the ticket counter which is in Penang and Butterworth. I have to ask for ...

The Incredible India

Image
The Incredible India. Hmm..are they? I don't how to decide. Most probably because I didn't go to the incredible places. When the first time I knew that I will be sent for training to India, I've got mixed feeling. Excited but at the same a little worried. Excited because I never been there and the expenses is sponsored but worried because I have to travel alone. I heard about a lot of bad things. Knowing that I will not be alone at Mumbai made me feel better. But still, little worry does have. Kolkata Airport Due to some changes, my training had to be rescheduled few days after the initial date. I flew to Kolkata by AirAsia from LCCT on 2nd July 2013 around 3.30 pm. I was my 2nd day of employment at my new workplace. It took about 3 hours to reach Kolkata Airport. From the air plane, I could see the greenery view of Kolkata. India is 2 hours and 15 minutes behind Malaysia. Therefore, it was 5.30 pm when I arrived there. It is a new airport and bigger than the ...

Pre-Post::The Adventures of Ho Chi Minh, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap on May 2013

Planning for a backpacking trip was not always easy for me. It requires a deep study about the destination, culture, local currency, and most importantly the places that I plan to go at each destinations. The route This time around, my crime partner, Zack and I will go to do the cross-country again. We choose to go to Ho Chi Minh,Vietnam, travel to Phnom Penh on the next day, Cambodia and straight away go to Siem Reap, which is also in Cambodia. The travel duration is only 3 days! I really hope we can make it.  Well, talking about preparation, there is not much thing we can do except for planning for the itineraries. There are a lot of resources will be used as references inclusive of our friends' experiences. The most challenging part (I guess so), is the currency used in these countries. In Vietnam, they are using US Dollar, Vietnamese Dong and some places accepting Malaysia Ringgit while in Cambodia, they are using US Dollar as the main currency a...

LIMA '13 - 29-30 March 2013

Image
Flying with Air Asia has now become my new addiction. Until March 2013, this is the third time I flew with Air Asia for this year. Owh please..this is not a promotional page. This time I visited Langkawi Island again. A very legendary favorite island of mine. This time it is purposely for LIMA '13. LIMA is an abbreviation for Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition. The idea of organizing such a big event like this was brought by former Malaysia Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. This is my second visit to LIMA, previously I went here on 2011. I am proudly to say that this is a solo backpacking trip. Yes, I was traveling alone all by myself. Initially, I was supposed to come with my friend but she had to cancel it due to duty call. Well, that will be okay for me. I bought the air ticket during Air Asia sales last year. I managed to get only RM88 for return tickets from KL to Langkawi. Pretty cheap right? I should not missed this opportunity and j...
